🤔 What is the AGM?

The Annual General Meeting or AGM is your opportunity to elect your branch activists and agree policy, priorities, and finances for 2026.

You can also ask questions, meet like-minded colleagues, and learn more about union activities in this year’s keynote workshop, ‘UNISON 101 – understanding and getting active in your union’.

All members are strongly encouraged to attend!

You are entitled to time off from your role to attend. If you experience any issues with this please email us at unison-office@bristol.ac.uk.

If you would like to request an adjustment to ensure your full participation, please email unison-office@bristol.ac.uk

Please book the time in your calendar as unfortunately we cannot send a calendar invite this time.

🙋 Your chance to get involved

The AGM is your chance to get more involved with your branch by becoming a branch activist.

Branch officers, stewards, workplace contacts, learning reps and health and safety reps are all elected annually at the AGM.

Anyone and everyone is encouraged to get involved, especially those from underserved groups and recent joiners.

All roles come with opportunities to attend training and events, and more substantial positions come with contracted time away from your day job.

If you aren’t sure where you might fit in, then get in touch and we can find something that will match your skills and level of engagement.

For descriptions of the opportunities and to register your interest, please use the role nomination form.

The deadline for nominations is Monday 9th February

📃 Motions

A motion submitted to the AGM is a formal proposal by a member or group of members to discuss an issue, shape policy, or call for a specific action.  This can be within our branch, our service group (Higher Education) or UNISON-wide.

If you ever wish to submit a motion to a service group, self-organised group, or national delegates conference, it must be approved at the branch level first.  The AGM is a great place to start!

To propose a motion or change to our branch rules, and for more information, please see the motion submission form

The deadline for submitting motions is Monday 9th February
