Show your support

If you wish to express your solidarity with the staff who make it possible for you to study at Bristol, you can email the vice-chancellor at vc-team@bristol.ac.uk.

Here is a suggested template:

Dear Evelyn,

I am a student at the University of Bristol, and I am writing to show my solidarity and concern for the University’s Professional Services staff.

Our student support teams, library staff, IT services, and admin workers (to name a few), are overworked and underpaid – yet the University cannot manage without these staff.

With the cost of living rising – especially rent prices in Bristol – these staff will only continue to struggle if they are offered real-terms pay cuts. It is time that they are paid fairly for the work that allows us to be a top 10 UK university.

Student learning conditions are staff working conditions. I urge you to back their call for negotiations between the Universities and Colleges Employers Association and the Joint Higher Education Unions to be reopened to improve their pay offer, and to meet with union representatives to discuss what can be done at a local level by the institution to address the issues faced by University of Bristol staff.

Thank you,
